I was working as a web designer and general graphics and poster maker for a non-profit. They had a debate coming up that they wanted me to make posters for. The brief was to make it simple black and white and easy to photocopy as it would be sent to the non-profits other venues to go on noticeboards etc.
So I made a simple but punchy poster made to look like an old time-y boxing match poster, featuring two black and white images and big bold text that would look great photocopied. It went through multiple edits at my bosses request until finally it was “perfect”.
Later in the month I looked at the notice board and saw that he had decided to make his own poster instead of using mine. His poster was on a blue background with seven different colored images including two explosions and navy text on the blue background. The photocopied versions were unreadable.
