I work in a print
shop. A client signed off on a proof for a shower invitation. I suggested a few
changes that she rejected – she wanted what she gave us.
Sensing trouble, I made CERTAIN she signed the proof release.
Sure enough, after we printed them the way the client wanted, her daughter turned up and demanded we reprint them for free, insisting that “any printer worth their salt” would have done it the way I had already suggested.
They persisted, insisting they’d trash us on online reviews until we gave them at least a discount. We reprinted them at half price.
The silver lining? We know use their proof and second print in our guidelines, saying:
If your proof looks like this: [crappy proof]
Don’t expect this: [better reprint].
