I was recording a client’s vocals for a song she had written. I thought it sounded great, but she didn’t agree.

Client: I want to redo it.

Me: Okay, what’s wrong with it? What would you like to change?

Client: I don’t know. I guess it just sounds “off” to me?

Me: Like, “off” key? Because I’m pretty sure it wasn’t.

Client: I don’t know. I just want to do it again

Me: Okay, once more, from the top.

She ran through the song again, but I didn’t even bother hitting record. When she was done, I just played the original track back to her.

Me: Is that better?

Client: SO much better, thank you.
