Client: Hey we are putting on a charity event, everyone is volunteering their time would you be willing to volunteer yours? We need someone to make a poster. You can get into the event for free.
Me: Sure, what is the poster size, what style do you want it in, do you have any images, what is the copy the needs to be on the poster?
Client: No images, I don’t care, and here are the notes from the last meeting – you can decipher what is needed.
I spent a day working on the poster. I was pretty happy with it, and submitted it to them. They came back with some “last minute changes.”
Client: Actually can you add all this text, our entire program , and this image to the poster too?
I made all the changes, and the formerly elegant design turns into a mess of detail and clashing parts.
Client: Perfect! We will make sure to credit you!
Me: No, really, please. You don’t have to. Don’t.
