My client, a scientist, needed a poster of her new web application to be presented at a conference. She returned from vacation 4 days before the conference and I went on vacation 3 days before, so I made sure to get her final approval before her vacation and got the poster printed while she was away.
On the one day our worktime overlapped, she mailed me demanding an express correction and reprint “because the screenshots don’t line up”. I met her and we unrolled the poster.
Me: What doesn’t line up?
Client points to three places on the poster.
Me: As for the first one, the lines you pointed out are not the edges of the screenshots, but lines within the screenshot. They can never line up unless we manipulate the screenshot to stretch parts of it, and then the text will look all weird. Do you want this?
Client: No, I guess that’s fine. Leave it as is.
Me: OK, now the other two - pass me that long ruler, please.
Yes, they lined up.
