An in-house client emailed me a small poster she wanted printed on my color laser printer. It was an awful mess, laid out in Word and it barely made any sense.
Because I was the in-house designer/editor and realized people would assume I did the layout, I redid the poster completely, changing the look of it entirely and improving the language and grammar. When she came to pick it up she said she was impressed – but for the wrong reason.
Client: Wow! Your printer is better than mine!
She honestly had no idea I had recreated her poster from scratch.
