A client asked for a menu design for their small local restaurant, but they had something very specific in mind.

They had a terrible logo. They also wanted a dark grey baroque print for the background, covered with white boxes to accommodate the bright red text. They also asked for drop shadows, beveling and outer glows all over the place.

Finally, they wanted a long piece of text on the front cover about how their mum started the restaurant and how their family runs it together and that her daughter just had a new baby, as well as a family photograph of them all WITH the baby. To top it off, they wanted a blurry photo of their grandmother put in the top corner.

QUESTION TIME: Did I A) swallow my professional pride and do it like they asked, getting paid without making trouble for myself or B) try to change their minds about key elements so that I could produce something I could live with?

Feel free to write  your own ending.
