IGN: Gamora #1 Review

At this point, every member of the current Guardians of the Galaxy have had at least one solo series to their name exact one, Gamora. That's despite the fact that this incredibly old, incredibly feared assassin probably deserves her own comic more than any of them. But at long last, Marvel is ready to make up for lost time, and Gamora is shaping up to be a worthwhile read for those who want to learn more about his she earned her reputation as the most deadly woman in the galaxy.

One of Gamora's big selling points is the fact that it's written by Nicole Perlman, one of the screenwriters of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Whether intentionally or not, the book could just as easily function as a movie prequel as it does an addition to Marvel's comic book universe. That certainly makes it accessible, though at the cost of playing a little fast and loose with Marvel continuity. It can be frustrating to see long-running Marvel franchises spontaneously re-align to mimic the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that seems to be what's happening when it comes to the depiction of the Thanos/Gamora/Nebula family dynamic.
