IGN: All-Star Batman #6 Review

As nice as it was to learn that Scott Snyder would still be writing a Batman comic for DC Rebirth, this series wouldn't get very far simply by replicating the approach Snyder took on his previous book. Especially not without artist Greg Capullo at his side. Nor would it help All-Star Batman stand out against the likes of Tom King's bold, daring take Batman or James Tynion's terrific ensemble approach to Detective Comics. Fortunately, Snyder has and continues to take a very experimental approach to his new series. All-Star's second story arc is already shaping up to be as different from the first as that arc was from the previous series.

Issue #6 serves as a welcome reunion for Snyder and his two Detective Comics partners, as Jock comes on board to render the main story and Francesco Francavilla begins the next phase of the Duke Thomas backup feature. Francavilla makes for a natural choice to succeed Declan Shalvey, and his noir-flavored style is always a welcome treat in the Batman franchise. That said, at this point the backup features are so short and choppy I'd rather they were published together as full-length issues in between main arcs.
